Hui OpenVista

In June 2003, Hui OpenVista, the open-source version of VistA, was released by the Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui, a joint venture of the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. Hui OpenVista is nonproprietary and license free. The Hui pioneered the development of Hui OpenVista to provide an affordable and robust EHR solution for healthcare facilities in remote, underserved areas.

Hui OpenVista and VistA share the same features, functionality, scalability and reliability. There is no significant difference between the two except for their operating platforms. Hui OpenVista operates on an open-source database management system that runs on Linux, an open-source operating system; whereas, VistA operates on proprietary software that must be licensed.
